Truly, the sight of these classical instruments side-by-side with electric guitars is not really common. However, the fact is, this group of young person’s is just like any other band – they are set in making good music and sharing it to others.
The band has been around the local music scene for quite some time now. Though their kind of song has evolved through the years due to a couple of evolutions to their line-up, they are still able to preserve a certain sound that is very Silent Sanctuary. equipped with catchy guitar riffs and heart-pounding melodies from the violins, the band has invaded numerous bars, schools, and other performance venues with the passion to share their music.
Silent Sanctuary never fails to capture first their audiences’ attention and hearts. Their selection offers a variety of songs destined to make one ride a rollercoaster or emotions, from the delight of a summer day to the misery of a dark gloomy night. The music of this five-piece band brings to surprising fruition the eclectic combination of their varied influences. Guitarist and vocalist Sarkie Sarangay’s Bob Marley influence is showcased of Dave Matthew’s can be discerned from drummer Allen Calixto’s and bassist Paolo Legaspi’s grooves.
Aside from being classically trained in their respective instruments, cellist Anjo Inacay and violinist Chino David’s sound are heavily laden by the edginess of OPM idols The Eraserheads, the creativity of Apocalyptica and Yo Yo Ma, and the ingenuity of Stephane Grapelli. Offering their deepest thought and emotions with the simplest words, Silent Sanctuary can make you cry with the sadness of Rebound.
History
Formed in 2001, the band had been composed of Norman Dellosa, Paolo Legaspi, Allen Calixto, Anjo Inacay, and Chino David. Later on Sarkie Sarangay took over vocal duties for the band. Jason Rondero, vocalist/bassist of indie band New Modern became the band’s new bassist when Paolo Legaspi left the band after the successful Debut Album called Fuchsiang Pag-ibig.
